A lack of moisture can leave your hands dry and chapped. Too much contact with water can also rob the natural oils in your skin. Your fingernails can also affect the appearance of your hands. Home remedies for hands can help because you can learn how to put cost-effective tips to good use. A couple of suggestions to keep in mind include:

a) Moisturize After Washing Hands:

Apply lotion or another type of moisturizer to the hands after washing to hydrate after experiencing the drying effects of most commercial soaps.

b) Gloves:

Protect your hands during cold weather or when washing the dishes by wearing gloves.

c) Petroleum Jelly:

Fight dry hands with a coat of petroleum jelly, such as Vaseline, which is applied before going to bed.

d) Witch Hazel:

Relax the muscles in your hands by soaking in a bowl filled with witch hazel and warm water for 20 to 30 minutes.

e) Warm Milk:

To soften hands, rest your hands in a bowl of heated milk for at least 30 minutes. The calcium and other components in the milk help keep hands healthy.

f) Sage Tea:

It is said that drinking sage tea can help people that experience issues with sweaty palms.

g) Baking Soda and Hydrogen Peroxide:

Treat yellowed fingernails by mixing one tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide and two tablespoons of baking soda. Apply the paste under and across each nail. Leave on the mixture for three minutes before removing with lukewarm water.

h) Strawberries:

Offering the power of a natural fruit acid, strawberries can help you exfoliate and rejuvenate your hands. Start by mixing nine strawberries, two tablespoons olive oil, and one teaspoon of sea salt in a blender on high. Blend for two minutes. Massage the remedy into your hands for 10 minutes, and then rinse off. Pat dry.

i) Baby Oil:

Moisturize your hands by rubbing baby (or mineral) oil into the skin.

j) Crisco:

When commercial products are too harsh for your skin, use plain shortening to moisturize hands just like you would a lotion.

k) The Scratch Test:

If you scratch the top of your hands and see lines or wrinkles, it’s a sign that you need to exfoliate and moisturize

l) Olive Oil:

Rub olive oil into your hands to moisturize, which works wonders after repeated hand washing throughout the day.

m) Oatmeal:

If you grind one cup of uncooked, old-fashioned rolled oats in a blender or food processor, you can rub your hands with the fine powder to remove the dead skin of chapped hands. Thoroughly rinse your hands – patting them dry with a towel. Follow up by applying your favorite hand cream or petroleum jelly.

n) Oatmeal, Yogurt and Lemon Juice:

Treat age spots on your hands by mixing four tablespoons of ground oatmeal, two tablespoons of plain yogurt, and two tablespoons of fresh lemon juice in a small bowl. Let the remedy sit for one minute. With clean hands, apply the paste to the tops of your hands and leave on for 30 minutes. Wash off and then follow up with a moisturizer. Repeat this home remedy two times per week to see age spots fade over time.

o) Sunscreen:

Protect your hands by applying sunscreen before leaving the house.

p) Soak Nails and Cuticles:

Enhance the appearance of your hands by soaking your nails and cuticles for a clean look. A soak of egg yolks provides nails with the B-vitamin biotin. You can also dip nails in a small bowl of mayonnaise every couple of weeks for 10 minutes.

q) Potatoes:

If you’ve stained your hands in the kitchen while cutting carrots or any other colorful fruit and vegetable, try rubbing a potato [2].

r) Brown Sugar and Olive Oil:

Add moisture and smoothness to hands by scrubbing with a mixture made out of two tablespoons of brown sugar and three tablespoons of olive oil.

s) Push Back Cuticles:

For a cleaner appearance of the hands, try pushing back your cuticles. Common household items that help include a toothbrush or Popsicle stick.

t) Lemon Juice:

Yellowing nails can hurt the appearance of your hands. To combat the look, soak in an equal mixture of lemon juice and water for five minutes.

u) Lemon and Sea Salt:

Remove dead skin cells from your hands with a mixture of lemon and sea salt. Gently rub your skin with a toothbrush. Follow this remedy two times per week to enjoy softer hands.

v) Whitening Toothpaste:

You can polish up your nails by applying a whitening toothpaste to an old toothbrush, and then gently scrubbing.
